Complexity of the chemistry outweighs the simplicity of the application.

Image
Now Aliens may have brought this technology to the Earth many years ago, however it turned out not to be needed - go figure! Now that it has made its mark, we find chemical traditionalist not understanding the  complexity of the chemistry  while they may at least understand the  simplicity of the application . This has been a true test to see statements of fact from my sisters and brethren in the industry that would embarrass them if they heard a recording of their ideas after understanding the complexity of the chemistry. With the drought in California and in many parts of the country, we are becoming the one and only true affordable and natural means of saving cooling tower water with the simplicity of the application . If you need to reduce your water use from as much as 40% -15% without the "complexity of an application" (along with the higher start-up and operating costs) then give us a call and we would love to share Mother Nature’s secrets ...

Starship Troopers out of work

Troopers sent home! WCTI is a safe place for those that are concerned about planet Klendathu were the battle rages against the super Arachnids bugs.... Six towers tested using bio-dip slides for anaerobic bacteria, yeast and mold Meanwhile, back here on Earth after 48 hours of incubation at 85F degrees on a WCTI water treatment program with 91,000 TDS, 10.1 pH and running monomer silica greater than 400ppm, we find no corrosion with rates on carbon steel of 0.02mpy and 0.03mpy Cu! and thank goodness we see no sign of the enemy. Incidentally, not a single drop of any toxic biocodial agent was used. Welcome to a bug free environment for your cooling tower with less than 2% system discharge.  Give us a call or if you would prefer; join the Federation and become a Citizen Soldier and fight the bugs with expensive weapons like Isothiazline or   maybe DBMPA or Glutaraldehyde and then add maybe some chlorine for good measure etc... - fun stuff....

Karma

Image
Some wise person once said that "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction" . Hmm.... In fact, I think he may have had an apple drop on his head.  There is another saying that for every action there is a consequence - some call this Karma. So when we look at the actions taken in the field of water treatment in cooling water, there must be some consequence to our actions. WCTI has forever changed the way the industry has thought of cooling water treatment by simply changing man's chemically engineered design back to Mother Nature's manifestations...  WCTI is nothing more than thinking of Newton's 3rd Law in the reaction that takes place in the ion exchange resin by the one to one exchange of Ca/Mg for Na going to the tower make-up - - after all there is an equal and opposite reaction here right? Some might say that in our efforts to use water in a cooling tower, it must result in "blowdown" or more comm...

Addressing all aspects of your Waterside Assets

Image
The owner of Water Conservation Technology International, Dan Duke has given the industry an amazing tool that gets a lot of “press” these days on water conservation. I firmly believe that reducing the total plant discharge from their cooling towers system from a range of 12-40% to less than 2% (mostly less than 1%) does warrant the good press and yes it is what seems to be driving a lot of customers to the WCTI process. However, I like to believe that in areas where: Scale was the real problem, WCTI chemistry has removed that obstacle by controlling hardness and all that it entails. Corrosion was the problem, that problem has been eliminated or substantially reduced from that of index chemistry programs by using what mother nature already has given us with silica based chemistry. Bio-fouling was a problem, there is now no more bio-film or water borne deposits on WCTI Chemistry. So for me, I like to think of it as also being about the RESULTS!. I...

What's the catch?

Image
I was asked a “what’s the catch...” question the other day after sharing the success of our program with a potential client. “…okay let me sum up what you are trying to tell/sell me; - - you say that we can discharge less than 2% of the total water used in our cooling towers, - - get extremely low corrosion rates, - - have zero heat robbing deposits, - - no biological growth, - - no need for any chemical once the protective WCTI chemistry has been achieved. You go on to say that we can actually use recycled waste water without using expensive pretreatment equipment like HERO, demineralizers and do not need to build evaporative ponds and also stop the need for post tower bleed treatment etc… How can that be??... Furthermore, you say we can do all this in most cases for less than a chemical program? OKAY, what’s the catch?” Not being a fisherman myself, and seeing that the client was an avid fly fisherman (personally, I prefer seeing fish fly at Pike Place Market - its a Seattl...

FAQ - Soft deposit build up?

Image
Due to the nature of cycled up cooling tower chemistry, "wet/dry - wet/dry" deposits accumulate on surfaces such as drift eliminators / louvers / fill / splash guards. Unfortunately, up until WCTI high TDS water chemistry, this build up was a hard and tenacious CaCO3 type scale from chemically treated systems. Now we see that WCTI with its higher TDS water, appears to build slightly different deposits - is this a problem? No - These deposits are now non-adherent and highly soluble since they no longer contain the hard scale forming ions of calcium and magnesium. Deposits can now be easily washed down with HES conditioned water at garden hose pressures saving man-hours and damage to the fill caused by high pressure cleaning. A side benefit of washing down your tower is that it actually keeps your tower externals looking cleaner, free from dirt, algae and scale deposit buildup.

"Oh my goodness! Where did all that silica go?"

Image
I am having so much fun watching the major chemical companies, especially those that have placed their entire marketing strategy on chemical treatment, make a complete fool of themselves by showing their ignorance (or should I say their flummoxing and befuddling campaign) about Silica based chemistry ..... Their sales forces are desperate and making remarks like "... where did all that silica go?...." In the meantime their PhD's back at corporate are quietly wishing their salesman would simply clam up and be quiet and not dig deeper "dummy" holes for their respective companies. Their marketing managers are either being complicit in letting their field personnel try to shoot this technology down with real misleading rhetoric or are completely on board and do not understand basic poly-silicate chemistry! I am not going to spend a lot of time trying to educate my competition, other than to say "...guys do your homework - please! - you are embarrassing you...
