Drought in the Northern Cascades affecting how much water you employ in your plant operation.

Image
It may be a prudent course of action to prepare for more water use in cooling tower operation [higher bleed rates] with well water kicking in early this year in the Tolt & Cedar water shed which may also affect North Pugent Sound's water shed. Your chemical program will be dramatically affected by the introduction of early well water infusion into the main Watershed Supply for all facilities using cooling towers and boilers. Our surface water i.e. watershed [Snow Melt] is perfect for the Pacific Northwest on a chemical program, however when well water is introduced [happens every year during summer months], you will be using far more water to maintain the properties of chemical limits and its related chemistry. This includes all elerto-mechemical devices. Your bleed rates could go up as much as 10 to 20% during well water usage. However, I program does not care about well water, in fact we would prefer it more then watershed water. We can maintain less than 2% at al...

Water Conservation @1 GPM....... Let's do the math

Image
DUDE, We have a problem..... Get a mop! LET's DO THE MATH...  1.0 gallon of dripping water a minute ↱GPM↰ normally "unseen" is not helping with good water use.  Okay, there is 1440min/day with 365days/yr ↝ 565,600 gallons a year and when you are paying ~$15/1000gal, or more (commercial - includes sewer) that would be an annual bill in excess of  $8,475. WOW - fix the problem and give everyone a little more bonus for Christmas or have a great Christmas party for all. Here is a lot of good information regarding the conditions we are seeing in Washington State. https://ecology.wa.gov/Water-Shorelines/Water-supply/Water-availability/Statewide-conditions/Drought-2019 Waterside  is constantly looking for ways to reduce customers operating budget.  Give us a call and we can share with you what it takes for all of us to save millions of gallons of water per year. Washington State drought on surface watersheds

Washington Drought LET's DO THE MATH... The total irony is that when we go to well water (to help the watersheds) we have to use more water to control parameters to meet the worst-case operating conditions.  On the other hand, glacier melt allows us to use less water in industrial applications. The Greatest Generation - - A tribute to my Father-in-law

And The Spirit Of God Moved Upon The Face Of The Waters Marion Clyde Rhodes - My hero and the best father-in-law a man could ever wish for. He played Football for Gonzales in 1944 just before he signed up at 17years old for service in the Merchant Marines. The program cover is really unique in that a soldier and quarterback are throwing what they knew best... REST IN PEACE POP - You could never be replaced.   A tribute to  a member of the Greatest Generation    https://youtu.be/ Onp_CWUfX2M https://youtu.be/Onp_CWUfX2M

Simple Phone APP makes it easy and precise

Image
GOOD NEWS  For all those folks that may have some sort of color blindness, especially testing in the field for things such as total hardness, Here is an example of success :-) with a simple free phone APP No more guessing on the when it turns blue - love it - just point and verify what you see.  Trust me I am not endorsing this or have any stake in it - just thought this may help those struggling with color in our industry or any others that need to determine colors

Using a microscope to do a quick in the field observation

Image
The technology available to all!   Just a quick observation for you to use in the field using your laptop or phone ~ 1000x Remember, fouling/breakage etc. of the Zeolite Resin matters a great deal if you hoping for good soft water and a not having to re-bed too early.  If you do not have this tool in the field at least get it sent in for analysis as you suspect issues with getting good soft water of a change in the regeneration process.

Where will your baud rate be tomorrow?

Image
Remember when; then again a lot of folks reading this weren't even born yet "LOL" **Circa 1987 "The same phenomenon is beginning to show up in a heightened interest in 9600 baud (bps). Where will it end? Some experts say 9600 is the highest baud rate that even good quality phone lines can support. But the researchers who pushed the highest baud rates from 300 to 1200 and then to 2400 and now to 9600 know that the experts were wrong before, and even now some of them are talking of 38,400-baud modems within a decade." *Circa 2018 So here I sit nearly 3 decades hence; using my current Office ISP at 436,000,000 bps in 2018....Crazy fast and as sure as the sun rises so will the bps. hashtag # modems
